dear tumblr,

ASTA is about to put out their quarterly issue of their magazine, and I was hoping that our chapter could be featured in it. I would really like to submit an article about how using tumblr has helped our chapter, but that means we actually have to use it! I need ALL of your help. PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR THOUGHTS, OPINIONS, AND IDEAS! This is a collaborative teaching/learning environment! Let’s work together on this one :)

Sincerely,

Crane ASTA

Should We Teach Students to Say ‘I Don’t Know’?

So, in response to the philosophical argument that students really should say, “I don’t know” when that is the case, and the practical argument that it is agony to read and grade wild, speculative guesses, I have developed an “I Don’t Know” policy for my exams. On no more than 15 percent of the points on an exam, I will give about 1/3 of the points in partial credit if a student answers, “I don’t know.”

a question for tumblr,

strength-based instruction turns the classroom into a learner centered environment and fosters a sense of community, importance, and self-confidence in students that would normally not be given a chance to feel good about themselves. it is also a way to simplify the daunting task of differentiating instruction. what are some ways that we can incorporate these strategies into our classroom?

radboyscout: I apologize if I have sent this to you before. I run a Music Education blog and I set it up so that it is follower-based. Unfortunately, I get few submissions and I would love it if you could take a look and see if you would like to follow and contribute. The URL is musiceducators.tumblr.com and I hope that you find it useful. :D

BTW, I found you through the list of Tumblr Teachers.

Hooray for Tumblr Teachers! You have not sent this message to us before. It’s good to hear from you. I’ll take a look!
